Steelers beat Jaguars 26-21
Ben Roethlisberger had a hell of a game against the Jacksonville Jaquars throwing for a whopping 309 yards and three touchdowns. The Steelers offensive game was lacking at best but thanks to Ben things worked out of the best with a victory of 26-21 over the Jaquars. Pittsburgh outgained Jacksonville 300 yards to 49 yards in the first half and had 17 more first downs.
The Jaguars finally tried to stabilize the game in the third, holding the Steelers to no yards in two possessions and then took a 21-20 lead on the second play of the fourth quarter. A stunning 24-yard touchdown throw over the middle by David Garrard to Marcedes Lewis allowed the Jaquars to regain some hope. Garrard finished 18-of-32 for 200 yards.
Rashean Mathis showed off his skills with an amazing 72 yd interception. This runback was the second-longest in Jaguars history. Unfortunate for the Jaquars, this was not enough. Jacksonville sputtered much of the night and had more penalty yards (74) than passing and rushing combined (49) at the half.
Pittsburgh’s win was not an easy one even though the Jaguars were without two starters in the secondary: cornerback Drayton Florence (groin) and Reggie Nelson (knee).
